Dinner Party 01. 07. 2013
Performance on the day Croatia became new EU member
Gorgona theatre, Museum of Contemporary Art, Zagreb
Any political project interests us only as far as it is about the construction of daily life, one that favors free game of life. Instead of losing time with the costs and benefits analysis of our membership in the EU, we should focus on what the EU effectively stands for.
With the red European Union flag in our eyes and the International in our ears let's try to resolve the dichotomy of two views to the sam revolutionary goal. On the one hand we find a view that could be summarized as: Only the revolution will bring about real pleasure and fulfillment, and we have to be ascetic cadres to reach it. The other side declares that: Only by developing pleasures and following our desires will the revolution even become a possibility
So, let's see what is on the table! The decision will be brought right here on the day of our birth. Until then, a relentless Marx's critique has to be applied to everything in existence, which is an exciting task because, as Raoul Vaneigem says: ?We have a world of pleasures to win and nothing to lose but boredom.??
Cheers!
Performance was a mock celebration of Croatia becoming a member of EU on July 1, 2013 and a real celebration of artist's 66h birthday on the same day. It was held on the stage of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb with participation of Cantus orchestra and a professional waiter. In between the courses artist dialed numbers of EU parliament, Central European Bank, and the Council of Europe and led somewhat absurd but interesting conversations.
